UIQ3

Recently acquired by a division of Sony-Ericsson from Symbian Ltd, UIQ (User Interface Quartz) is one of the GUI layers available on the market that can be placed on top of Symbian OS as it's presentation or graphical user interface layer. UIQ provides additional features such as a touch screen interface (alongside with one-handed operation) to Symbian OS. With the recent acquisition by it's main licensee, with other major mobile players such as Motorola turning parts of their strategies toward UIQ and with serious touch screen competition on the rise, the platform is looking as attractive as ever. Psiloc's advantage rests on the layered design of all Symbian devices. Once an application has been built for one Symbian GUI, porting it to the others is just a matter of simply accounting for the differences in GUI, such as but not limited to touchscreen capabilities.
